CCREF Sustainable Student Scholarship Award

Goal: The goal of the CCREF Sustainable Student Scholarship Award is to foster an interest in high school students in the composting industry and fostering the connection of healthy soils to growing healthy foods and clean water. This scholarship is a good way to bring the attention of budding young professionals to the compost industry.

Guidelines: Scholarships will be awarded by the Composting Council Research and Education Foundation to high school students who have expressed interest in the composting industry and expect to pursue their interests at the college level within the fields of environmental science, environmental studies, engineering, and biological or the physical. The number of awards will be based on the funds available to the program.

Scholarship Application Process: A deadline will be set for students to submit essays outlining how their interest in composting came to be, how their project will further that interest and how their project could impact their choice of major at college or university. Each application must be accompanied by two recommendation letters. These essays and other materials will be reviewed by a committee and the scholarship will be awarded to the applicant whose goals and interests’ best align with the mission of CCREF.

Deadline: Applications will be accepted until August 31, 2016. Awards will be made in September 2016 for the 2016-17 school year projects.

Details for submission: open to high school senior entering into college or university program in the Fall. All submission must be submitted electronically via email and include the application, essay, and two recommendation letters from a guidance counselor/teacher/supervisor involved in student’s environmental and academic activities.

All materials must be submitted, by the deadline, to admin@compostfoundation.org
