With the start of International Compost Awareness Week coming up, we want to help you with your social media plans as a way to engage as many people as possible through an integrated social media/digital marketing campaign. The ICAW Committee and other volunteers have prepared a simple “plug and play” campaign that you can easily copy and paste into your Facebook and Instagram feeds, share through emails, or print to distribute at planned events and activities. In addition, on the Compost Research & Education Foundation website there is a whole section on ICAW, offering many different ways to get involved beyond social media. The ICAW homepage has ideas for events, proclamations and more. If you have any questions about this social media plan or about ICAW 2026 overall, contact us at, icaw@compostfoundation.org
Please make sure to use the three ICAW hashtags with all your posts and use the tags too!

Wednesday, April 22 – Earth Day
Earth Day is the perfect reminder that small actions lead to big impact, and composting is one of the most powerful ways we can give back to the planet.
As we get ready for ICAW, now is the time to start thinking about how you can turn food scraps and yard waste into something meaningful. Composting reduces landfill waste, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, and helps build healthier soils that support stronger, more resilient communities.
This year’s ICAW theme, “Compost! Feed the Soil that Feeds Us,” highlights the essential role compost plays in sustaining our environment, from the ground up.
Join us this Earth Day by taking one simple step:
Start composting, plan an ICAW event, or spread the word about the power of compost.
