Cary Oshins Training Scholarship

Offering Financial Assistance to Attend a
Compost Operations Training Course (COTC)

In spring of 2023, Cary Oshins, CREF’s long-time Education Director, retired. To honor all his hard work and dedication to growing and expanding compost education opportunities, the Compost Research & Education Foundation (CREF) has started the

Cary Oshins Training Scholarship

What Will it Fund?

This new scholarship will be used to give financial assistance to people wanting to attend the Compost Operations Training Course (COTC). Attendance of these 5-days, onsite trainings can be a financial barrier for some. In order to allow more people to benefit from attending a COTC, these scholarships will be offered for each scheduled COTC, if funding allows.

How Can You Help?

Over decades, Cary dedicated his career to creating and growing valuable, meaningful education programs for the compost industry and beyond. Show your appreciation for all he did by donating today to this scholarship to honor the impact he has made on the industry and to help support more people to benefit from attending this training.

Donate today to this new scholarship. Money raised will go directly towards individual scholarships. The more money raised, the more scholarships can be offered.

Apply for a Cary Oshins Training Scholarship

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, however, if an applicant intends to use the scholarship for a specific COTC offering, they must apply no later than 6 weeks before that course’s start date. Application review will take into account both financial need and the impact that attending a COTC will have on an applicant’s career and/or the industry overall. This scholarship will cover 50% of the registration fee cost.

Before applying, please read the application questions. The application form cannot be saved, so you must be ready to answer the questions when you start your application.
