Each year, the Composting Council Research & Education Foundation highlights one or two companies that has shown long-term, continued support of the work of the Foundation. At the Compost 2018 Conference in Atlanta, CCREF awarded Dave Williams, founder of BioBag Americas, for the many years of support his company has given to a number of CCREF programs, specifically sponsoring International Compost Awareness Week year-after-year and, more recently, supporting the Young Investigator scholarship program.
Another award went to one of the longest and most dedicated volunteers for International Compost Awareness Week. Starting in 2002, Teri Sorg-McManamom joined the ICAW committee moving up to be the co-chair in 2004 and helped with the program year-after-year. All these years later, she is back as the ICAW Committee Chair for the past two years, ever since ICAW transferred over from being run by USCC to CCREF. Teri’s commitment and passion for this program has allowed it to grow and thrive. Teri is incredibly busy with her work with BioCycle and volunteering for many organizations in her community, but she always has time to help out with ICAW and to proudly represent this awareness-building program.
